Parliamentarians, political figures and government representatives stressed the importance of benefiting from international experiences in formulating principles and guidelines for freedom of association in Palestine and in the Arab world.

Participants in the meeting organized by AMAN at its premises in Bireh, emphasized the importance of freedom to form all types associations to enrich the Palestinian and Arab experience in this field. The meeting, as expressed by Dr. Azmi Shuaibi, General Coordinator of AMAN, aims at formulating a Palestinian policy paper, in continuation of efforts started in Cairo during the international conference held on 27-28 June 2007.

Participants discussed issues related to the creation of associations, internal bylaws of associations, funding and dissolving of associations and the authority that should handle issues related associations.

Participants stressed the role of the judiciary, internal democracy of associations and the adoption of the notification system in registering NGOs.
